  • How can NB-nebulizers be connected to argon and sample tubing ?
NB-nebulizers are supplied with standard connectors that suit such tubes - 'quick-fit' connectors that are rated to 10 bars, and RubeTube sample tube connectors that suit all commonly-used sample tubing.

  • My  'No-Break nebulizer'  has been broken !   Can it be fixed ?
Fortunately, in most cases, yes.   Wash it clean of any contamination and Post it to  EPOND Switzerland.
If the cost of nebulizer repair exceeds 30% of its initial purchase price, you'll receive an email asking permission to proceed.

  • How can the self-aspiration rate of a concentric nebulizer be best adjusted ?
Without changing the applied pressure, you can reduce the aspirated uptake by either lengthening the uptake tube,
or by reducing the internal diameter ( ID ) of the uptake tube.
Reducing the ID by a factor of 2 can cut the uptake by a factor of 5 or more.
This is governed by the   Poiseuille-Hagen law   which is shown in this site's  aspiration page .
EPOND Switzerland can provide you with a  range of tubes and with components to connect them,
such as the 'RubeTubes'.  Watch out for air leaks - the presence of small bubbles in a sample uptake tube
can rapidly reduce uptake and degrade stability, leading perhaps even to 'vapour-lock'.

  •  EPOND  product literature says that a   Boreal  medium-uptake NB-nebulizer is made for a maximum uptake of 800 ul/min.
     -   but can it be pumped with sample at a higher uptake ?

Yes - the stated uptake limits are advisory, although they indicate the limits within which the best overall results are obtained ... and also the approximate limits of aspirated uptake.

  • Is there a simple way to measure the self-aspiration rate of a nebulizer ?
The best way to do this is with an EPOND   XENA   flow meter for small liquid flows
      -  an electronic device to measure uptake accurately in seconds   -  in the range 5 to 2000 microlitres per minute.
The patented measurement system of this reliable ** , accurate meter is volumetric
      -  and has software that permits re-configuring for custom requirements.
**  Every EPOND flow meter ever made is still working today !

  • Are any of these NB-nebulizers available made of PFA ?
No  -  For PFA nebulizers and other PFA components EPOND recommends ESI's products.
Apart from the detailed information about these products that's available from the  EPOND  and  ESI  web sites,
there's a lot of favourable, independent comment about them in the archives of Mike Cheatham's PlasmaChem bulletin board.
The 2 most well-known ESI PFA nebulizers are the   MicroFlow and the PFA-ST  ,
both of them perfectly suited to use with the  APEX-Q and APEX-E  high-sensitivity systems.

  • Does EPOND supply ICP components apart from nebulizers ?
Yes. Take a look at the EPOND site : you'll see that there are ICP torches, spray chambers, cones, detectors
and a wide range of other atomic spectroscopy components and systems.

  • How does EPOND ship things ?
Normally by FedEx/DHL or the Post, but we'll ship any way you specify.

If you have any less-frequently asked questions, please email and we'll answer within the day.
